Estado del Africa oriental que limita con el mar Rojo, Dijibouti, Somalia, Sudán y Kenia. Es un país montañoso accidentado por el Macizo Etiópico, y de suelo fértil, donde, entre otros nos, nace el Abbai o Nilo Azul. Clima templado en las mesetas centrales caluroso en las tierras bajas. La principal riqueza es la agricultura, (Cereales café algodón, oleaginosas) y la ganadería (vacuno, equinos, caprinos). La explotación minera es modesta igual que la industria. Explota café, pieles, y cueros, semillas oleaginosas, carnes. Predomina la raza blanca, generalmente de tez algo tostada, y hay también muchos negros (bantúes, nilóticos). El 60 % son cristianos monofisitas, el 30 % musulmanes.

It is a state of East Africa bordering the Red Sea, Dijibouti, Somalia, Sudan and Kenya. It is a mountainous country, with the Ethiopic Massif, and fertile ground where, among others rivers, it is born the Abbai or Blue Nile. The climate is temperate in the Central Tablelands hot in the lowlands. The main wealth is agriculture (cereals, coffee, cotton, oil) and livestock (cattle, horses, goats). Mining is modest as well as industry. The country exploits coffee, skins and leather, oilseeds, meat.
The white race is the most numerous, usually somewhat with a suntanned complexion, and there are also many blacks (Bantu, nilotes). 60 % are Christian miaysites, 30 % are muslims .
